Easter Azaleas

If there is one picture that would sum up the difference between my sister and I during our childhood years, this would be it. Lara and I are picking the flowers off the azaleas and throwing them on the ground. Then my Dad yells "stop that girls!" and we turn around just in time to have our picture taken. Lara's face says, "I did it, it was wrong, and I'm sorry, but please don't spank me". My face says, "just who do you think you are, yelling at me, huh"?

One Last Rant

Okay, this will be the last time I complain about this, I swear. David now calls me "daddy". That's right, we've graduated from da da to daddy, but still no mama. Jason will ask him "Where's mama?", and David replies "There's daddy" and points to me. It really wouldn't bother me that much except that the kid knows how to say "Pablo"! Aside from the fact that I think that "Pablo" is harder to say than "mama", its a cartoon character for heaven's sake! If he learns to say "Uniqua" before he can say my name...LOOK OUT!

Kristin's Baby Shower

Kristin, the mommy to...

a baby girl...

...or a baby boy?

Presents Galore!

The two grandma's

The two hostesses

Kristin and Me, er, I

My Loot!

Jason and David had some good father/son time together today so I could go to Kristin's baby shower. Rebecca and Julie hosted a wonderful party and I really learned a lot from watching them work. We played the usual can't say the words "baby" and "cute" game and "baby price is right" which I won (well I tied with two other ladies). I got to take home some comfy sock/slippers. Everyone got a koozie and a candy bag. I have to say one of my favorite things about this shower was by request from Kristin herself. Instead of buying a card, we were all to buy our favorite children's book and sign it. Kristin only has 7 more weeks until her due date-April 19th. Any bets on the sex?

*In other related news, I just found out that Jessica (who occasionally checks this blog) is pregnant and due September 20th! Congratulations! You too Carol, I know you're excited about being a grandma!

Grandy shows Ben his new baseball and glove

Today we went to Jump Zone to celebrate my nephew Ben's upcoming birthday. He had a party with his friend Taylor who celebrated her birthday earlier this month. My sister Lara and Taylor's mom Rachel go to the same church and have most of the same friends so it made sense to have the party together and split the cost. On Tuesday Ben will officially be out of the terrible two's and into the ____ three's? Someone help me out with that please. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENNETT!

Boogetie, boogetie, boogetie! (Tara and Becky-that was for you ; )

Crawling Cousins.

Yesterday David went to visit two of his buds Bobby and Drew. I won't get into the specifics, but let's just say that I am now researching mother's morning out programs in my area...

Oh NBC, how stupid can you be?

I just watched the most anti-climatic hour of television. Jason and I love to watch the Apprentice, not because we would love to work for Donald Trump (although I admit it has some perks, namely the paycheck) but because we like to see which one of us comes up with the best idea for the task at hand. Its sort of our own mini competition. Anyway...we had already figured out which team was going to win this week due to last weeks "scenes from the next episode". (Good one NBC!) This season the losing team has to sleep outside in tents, while the winning team sleeps in one of trump's mansions, complete with a pool and hot tub. In order to preview a relationship that was developing they showed a couple (who is on the same team) at a hot tub together. They had lost the week before so it couldn't be happening before the task-Gee, I guess they win. The only other thing that could keep us on the edge of our seats was to see who might possibly get fired. In order to make more money and increase viewership NBC has a "text and win" game, where you text who (out of a possible 5 contestants) you think will get fired, and a selected winner gets $10,000. Out of those possible 5 contestants ONLY 1 of them was on the losing team! (Insert post title here) Gee, I wonder who gets fired. The only reason I kept watching is because I entered the text and win contest (since I knew who was going to be fired) via NBC's website since it is free (texting costs 99 cents per entry). I didn't win so my theory is that the free votes don't count...

$2.99 and Worth Every Penny

Grocery shopping with David has become increasingly difficult. During our last trip together Publix was heavily decorated for valentine's day. Right away David took notice of the many balloons they had scattered across the store. In order to appease him and make the trip a little easier I went ahead and snatched one up and gave it to him to play with. It worked and I was able to shop with ease. As you can see we've made good use of it since its been home.

An Early Feast

Appetizer
What sound other than normal ringing, would you like your telephone to make?
I downloaded the best ring tone on my old cell phone(that I had 2 years ago and still miss). The Charlie Brown/Peanuts theme song. I also like Beethoven's moonlight sonata. What can I say? My taste is eclectic.

Soup
Describe your usual disposition in meteorological terms (partly cloudy, sunny, stormy, etc).
Mostly sunny with a slight chance of rain. Is mostly sunny the same as partly cloudy? I guess you could say my glass is half full.

Salad
What specific subject do you feel you know better than any subjects?
Health/Physical Education.

Main Course
Imagine you were given the ability to remember everything you read for one entire day. Which books/ magazines/newspapers would you choose to read?
The Bible and and any current pediatric medical publications.

Dessert
If a popular candy maker contacted you to create their next confection what would it be like and what would you name it?
A variation of Almond Joy, but with more nuts. I think nuts, chocolate, and coconut go well together, and there isn't much candy with coconut out there. I'm too tired to think of anything creative for the name...I should probably stick to doing these on Friday mornings...

David's Valentine

Elena*

Our prayer group met tonight and David was so excited about seeing Elena, his Valentine. He wanted to buy her a card, gummy bears, and flowers. I thought an almost 3 year old girl would like a stuffed animal more than flowers, but David insisted that since she is an older woman he didn't want to seem too juvenile. If David doesn't have a calling to the priesthood, then I think Elena would be a great arranged marriage ; ) He is already schmoozing Joel, Elena's daddy...

*Elena is fighting and winning the battle against Cystic Fibrosis. Please join us at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful fundraising event-Great Strides. The Great Strides walk at Zoo Atlanta is on May 5, 2007. To learn more about CF, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation click here.

The Circle of Life

My nephew John William was born today at 2:37 pm, he weighed 7lbs 9 oz., and is 20 3/4 inches in length. Drew (Will's daddy) sent me this picture (taken with his cell phone and sent to mine). I will be going to visit them this evening after David goes to bed so I am hoping to post more pics later. Drew's grandfather also passed away today at 11:10 am..."I guess the good Lord giveth and the good Lord taketh away".

El Pollo

David's favorite book is still The Animals of Farmer Jones. We read it at least two times a day. I believe this is the reason David says "cluck, cluck, yum, yum" when you tell him he is/will be eating chicken. Remind anyone of that barnyard song Phoebe sings on Friends? Yeah, me too.

Footnote
Q: How does a perfectly good walk on a beautiful 65 degree day in February get ruined?
A: Neighboring Farmers fertilized their field today with chicken manure. Cluck, cluck, yuck, yuck.

Soon There Will Be Four

Friday David and I went to visit Lara and Ben. I wanted to see my sister one last time before baby Will makes his appearance. She is scheduled to start the induction process this Wednesday. Lara had Happy Habaneros deliver some quesadillas, and it was so nice to just eat at home with the kids. Shortly after lunch, we put the boys down for their naps. As her house was also a diversion from playing choo-choo's, I gladly took on some of her ironing so she could rest. I didn't get much done before David woke up, but hey at least I put my money where my mouth is!
