Say Cheese Please

I'm taking a break from Georgia week to post pictures of yesterday's play date with Amanda. Our sons David and Davis were born 6 days apart. Neither one of us can make it to the other kids birthday party so we met to exchange gifts. We dipped in two stores real quick and then it was on to Chuck E. Cheese. This was David's first time going there, and I can't even remember the last time I went. I wasn't sure if there would be games appropriate for his age, but I was pleasantly surprised. Here are some pictures of the boys playing...

We made out like bandits y'all. Amanda was smart enough to go online and print off some coupons beforehand so it was just as cheap as eating/playing at a fast food restaurant. We each got a pair of shoes for our kids, meals for the four of us, and plenty of games for the kids for $35 each! It was so much fun we vowed to do it again real soon. Happy 2nd Birthday Davis! Sorry we can't make it to the party-y'all know where we will be tomorrow ; )

Random Good Stuff

Another cute video...

David is constantly surprising me with the things he picks up on/remembers...

-If you ask David to put the remote control back where it belongs, he places it (facing the correct way) in the exact spot Jason likes to put it in his "papa bear chair". He knows where almost every object in the house belongs. I think he might have picked up on my obsession.

-David will frequently use the Spanish word "abre" for open. I have Dora/Diego to thank for that.

-When I am reading David any one of his favorite books, he will often say the next line from memory before I read it.

-Yesterday I was folding laundry in David's room. He took his Motrin bottle off his dresser and left the room. Six hours later we needed the medicine and I asked him where he put it. He thought for a second and then walked across the house and opened the laundry room. Sure enough, it was in there.

Here are two pictures of David from today...

...somehow he's already learned the art of tailgating. That's my boy!

Birthday Activities

I had a wonderful day yesterday. My birthday always used to fall on the first day/week of school, so I never really got to do anything special on the actual day until just recently. These past few years have been some of my best birthdays ever. Yesterday, my sister and I left the kids with our respective mother-in-laws for a fun girls day out. First we went to kidsignments and I got to see Caron!
Just like old times.

Lara and I getting ready to shop.In the end I only found one jacket, one vest, two shirts, a movie, and a book. I can't complain though- as the younger sister I've been blessed with lots hand me downs. We ate Chick-fil-A waiting in line to check out and Bruster's ice cream just before we left. After calling home to check on the kids we decided we had enough time to get a pedicure before going home. It was just what we needed after standing in line so long! Then we headed to Pat's house for an impromptu family dinner of pizza and cake. As always the kids were competing for Papa John's attention. Here he is giving "horseback" rides.

Flowers from Jason.

I really couldn't have asked for a better day. A special thanks to Pat and Deanna for babysitting the kids. Also, thank you to all my family for sharing the day with me-it was a real treat. Last but not least-thanks for all the well wishes friends and blogger buds!

Best Weekend Ever

It was another busy, but very fun weekend for the Royal Family. Friday night we got together with some of our old youth group friends. We enjoyed visiting, eating from the taco bar, and drinking frozen margaritas. Here are some pictures of the kids...

Drew is so happy in this picture because he just realized he was coming home with us. Saturday was picture day at Georgia and Matt and Christy (Drew's parents) wanted to get a picture of Drew with Uga VI (this is his last year before he retires). They spent Friday night with us. Early Saturday morning Jason and Matt got up early and drove to their old stomping grounds to stand in line for a ticket to get a picture Uga. The man who was first in line got there at 8 pm the night before-now that's dedication! We got one of the last standby tickets so we weren't certain we'd get a picture but thankfully we did!

David and I waiting to see if they would let us in for a picture.

Enjoying the view...

...of the field and a tractor mowing the grass.

The guy right in front of us proposed to his girlfriend y'all! It was so cute. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of David and Drew with my camera because I was trying to get the boys' attention so they would look at the very nice expensive camera Matt brought since I knew his pictures would turn out better than mine. Click here to see a professional shot taken by one of the photographers on hand. When Matt sends me the ones he took, I will post those as well.

Today we had some family time-just the three of us. We went to church early this morning and this afternoon we all took a 3 hour nap. When we woke up Jason decided he wanted to take us out on his boat (I told y'all the boat garage wouldn't be empty for too long-he's had it for awhile now, but this is the first time David and I went out on it.)

"when daddy let me drive"

Making waves.

We ended the day with supper at Cracker Barrel. I can't think of a more perfect weekend y'all: visiting with friends, eating lots of good food, pictures with Uga, boating on the lake...does it get any better? I think not.

Dinner With Friends

We had a few friends come over for dinner the other night. Jason still likes to feed them whenever he can. No need to turn on your speakers (unless you want to hear background noise). There's even a food fight to keep it interesting ; ) Enjoy!

Another Weekend Gone

Well it was crazy busy weekend for me. Saturday night was my 10 year high school reunion. I wasn't planning on going, but earlier this week the plans we had for Saturday got cancelled, so I went. If there is one thing I regret about that night...its wearing that dress! I really, really, really don't like the way it looks on me after seeing myself in pictures. My mirror at home lied to me before we left. I know we are all very critical of our own pictures, but if you compare them to the ones of me today I know you'll agree.
Today, my blogger buds Katie and Becky, and I went to a baby shower for a friend whom I've spoken of before named Jessica. Here are the pictures from both events...

Jason and I (Is it just me or do I look pregnant? I'm not by the way ; )

Here is a picture me and some of my best friends before a football game circa 1997 (note-Jeanine-2nd from left, and Kim-far right-I'm the one in the middle).

Jeanine, Me, and Kim 2007 (we all still keep in touch). We missed you Kelly D., Becky, Kelly P., and Caron!
Dallas and me in 1994 sitting on top of my sister's car that would eventually become mine.

Me and Dallas 2007-it was the highlight of my evening seeing her again y'all. We were inseparable for a few years there. She now lives in Oklahoma (her husband who also graduated with us is a marine) and I found out she is a stays at home (just like me!) with her 18 month old daughter. I am so excited I got her contact information so we can reconnect.
On to Jessica's baby shower. Y'all she is due in September-I feel for her in this heat- and I can really relate as David's birthday is also in September. Jessica and I share a love of Georgia football-we've both got season tickets-she says she is at least going to make it to the first game this year.
Jessica with a "Little Dawg Sleeping" door hanger.
The grandmothers-to-be. Y'all should recognize her mom on the left-that's Carol, David's godmother.

Me, Becky, and Katie-now see don't I look much better in this picture?

Katie and her "Ma" Chris, Becky and her mom Gloria, Me and my mother in law Pat, Jessica and her mom Carol. The four mom's are friends, and the four daughters are friends. Isn't that cute?

Now Jessica-David was born during the Georgia vs. South Carolina Game 2005...so watch out on September 8th, okay? You may not want to go to that game...

Easy As Pie

If you're like me on days like today (when the heat index is 105 degrees) you would gladly skip a meal for a cool treat. I thought I'd share one of my favorite recipe's that I got from our neighbors/friends in Statesboro. (Whenever I think its hot here I just remind myself that it could be worse-I could be back in south Georgia where on any given day its 10 degrees hotter than it is here.) Let me just tell you that the phrase "easy as pie" was invented for this pie. There is no cooking or baking involved...just mix and freeze.

Lemonade Pie aka Lemon Ice Box Pie
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
6 oz can frozen lemonade (thawed)
8 oz carton cool whip (tastes just as good with lite cool whip)
Combine and mix all ingredients. Do not beat. Place in graham cracker pie shell. Freeze.

I Just Couldn't Resist...

...posting this recent picture of David with his awesome Godparents; Carol and Father Jack.

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures

On the way to the beach we made our first stop about 20 minutes away from home to pick up a present for Mr. Wesley and Miss Kriss. David said "Beach" and when I informed him we were just at a store he said "Back House" which should have been our first clue that the ride wasn't going to go too well. Jason and I began to rethink the conversation we had with the salesman at the car dealership when we bought the Tahoe.

Salesman: "You should really think about upgrading your package so you can get a DVD player."

Us: "No, Thanks." We grew up with out watching videos in the car and we turned out just fine. Our kid(s) need to learn to use their imagination."

Looking back, I guess the ride to the beach wasn't too bad since it was broken up into two days, but the ride home was down right torturous for me. David insisted that I ride in the back seat with him which gives me motion sickness or at the very least a headache. We were running out of things to occupy him so we started singing...

Its only slightly less annoying than singing 99 bottles of juice on the wall.

Just One More Day...

Here are the last of the good pictures from our vacation (although I do have a short video clip I'll post later). We had a great time because for once mother nature cooperated with us. There was no hurricane (like our honeymoon, and first vacation) and no blizzard (like our ski trip) just beautiful sunny days and no major catastrophes like we are so accustomed to. There was one minor setback for me. I only brought one bathing suit-its the only one I own. I bought it for our honeymoon and it has been my favorite one to date. I went shopping before the trip and there were lots to choose from at great prices, but it isn't worth any amount of money (no matter how little) if you aren't happy with how it looks or aren't comfortable in it and don't end up wearing it. I just never could find one I liked all that much. Wouldn't you know the second day of our trip the plastic piece that holds my top together in the back broke! Thankfully we were able to scrounge up a safety pin so it wasn't a total disaster...hey mom do you think its salvageable?

We took David to the kiddie pool one day. We weren't there very long before he said...

"Go Beach!"

Jason trying to rid himself of a farmer's tan.

It sure is hard to take a nice picture of seagulls.

The one and only picture of the three of us.
A seafood restaurant is one of only a few appropriate places for this shirt ; )

So. Tired.

As with every beach trip, I end up wishing we could stay just one more day...
