The Nativity Story

I saw one commercial for this movie which will be released on December 1st and haven't heard about it since. Anybody know anything about this? I want to see it, but only if it is a true documentary.

Don't know anything about it...it looked pretty powerful. I was glad to see it was PG, which means they probably didn't put anything too graphic in it.

http://www.thenativitystory.com/ Based on the description, it seems the direcotr and writer tried to make it as authentic as possible. Thanks for letting me know about the movie! I would love to see it!

I need to check this out; I wonder if it's on a "kid's level" at all. If so, then it sounds like a date for Logan and his mommy.

I think it is trying to be a historically and biblically accurate dramatization of the events of Christ's birth. I'm hoping it will be good and I plan on seeing it. I heard that it was going to premiere at the Vatican, which is a first in movie history.

I have heard, on talk radio last week the following:

The movie it to be released worldwide, notably on the release day it will be viewed by Pope Benedict in the Vatican - a very rare event.

The movie screenplay however is not a replay of events as say may have been protrayed in other movies say like Franco Zeferrelli's 'Jesus of Nazareth.'

This one, as explained in a radio interview with the person behind it, tries to show the events from the perspective of the individuals. For example, a just engaged Mary goes off to visit Elizabeth for a couple months. She comes back very pregnant. So it tries to portray the conflict for Joseph who wonders what Mary has been up to while out of town so to speak.

So in short it attempts to examine in greater detail the emotions and internal conflicts of the principal players instead of merely re-enacting the events as chronicled.
