Seven Random Things

I've been tagged by Amanda. I am supposed to list 7 random things about myself. Here goes...

1. I once flushed my cloth diaper down the toilet and my parents had to dig up the whole yard. I don't know how old I was at the time, but I know I was younger than 21 months, because that's how old I was when I was potty trained.

2. I was a gymnast for 8 years. When I was 2 years old my mom put me in gymnastics because she said she had to get rid of all my energy somehow. It was my entire life until I was 10 years old.

3. When I was little I was afraid of Santa Claus, and so to this day there is no picture of me with him, only one with the Easter Bunny.

4. I've never been to Disney World, and I've never been on a cruise (ha-you got two for one there ; )

5. At age 15 (before I could even drive) I started working at Chick-Fil-A, and I didn't quit until I was 17. I did work study at my school so I worked a lot. I only got paid $4.35 an hour (at the time that was 10 cents above minimum wage). There were days when I would eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner there.

6. My college psychology professor once told me that I would never get married, and if I did my husband would be settling for me, because no man would ever really want to marry me.

7. 10 years ago I got a really bad case of food poisoning from Kentucky Fried Chicken...I haven't eaten there since...

Now I'm supposed to tag some others, but it hasn't worked well for me in the past...so if you feel like participating in this game...be my guest!

Too Cool For Pool

Newest purchase
Palm tree sprinkler
My diaper dandy
We caved in and decided to buy a pool for David this summer. I think it was worth the price ($20 at wal-mart) but I'll let you know how it holds up...David wasn't too interested in getting inside since water from the hose is so cold. We tried to let the sun warm it up a bit, but David couldn't wait any longer to play outside. Happy Memorial Day from the "Royal Family"!

Lana's 1st Birthday Party

Lana and her mommy Amanda opening gifts.
David playing bubbles.
Eyeing her cake while we sing.
"Strawberry short cake"*Can you tell I went grocery shopping this morning?
Today David and I went to Lana's 1st birthday party. (Jason had already scheduled a fishing trip with his cousin.) Lana is a cutie and had such a sweet personality. I wish I could have taken more pictures of her, but David was a force to be reckoned with today. (He's wearing two different t-shirts in the pictures because he dumped bubble water on the first shirt.) Justin and Amanda are doing such a good job raising her. They are really fun people, and all her friends will want to play at her house.
*It turns out I don't have to actually buy David balloons at the grocery store (although I only did it that one time). Publix will give you one free (so long as its a Publix logo balloon). I'm not sure I will be taking advantage of that very much though...that balloon was almost the death of me today-I've already popped it.

Good Manners

Yesterday David and I went to Elena's house to watch her while her parents were working. I have to share this conversation I had with her...

Elena: "Shoosenee Andrea."

Me: "What's that, you want me to choose you?"

Elena: "No, shoosenee"

Me: "What do you want me to do with your shoes?"

Elena: "No, I said shoosenee"

Me: "I'm sorry Elena, I don't understand what you saying."

Elena: "Shoosenee means someone is in the way and they need to move."

*At this point I realize she was saying "excuse me" and begin laughing uncontrollably at her explanation of the phrase*

Prayers Please

I'm calling on all my my blogger buddies to please pray for a little girl who goes to my church named Taylor Kinchen. She will be six years old tomorrow but she will be spending her birthday in the hospital(and has already been there for some time). A few weeks ago it was determined she has cancer. She has already had a tumor removed from her brain and she will need chemotherapy and radiation for two other tumors on her spine. In the meantime Taylor has developed posterior fossa syndrome, and due to her lack of appetitie a feeding tube has been inserted. She will have surgery again on Monday to have a shunt put in. Her family does not have health insurance...

A Family Weekend

The Graduate
and his family.
Will
and his family.

It was a busy weekend as usual. Saturday Jason's cousin, Justin graduated from UGA. We met the family at Blue Willow Inn for a celebration meal. Sunday my nephew Will had a dedication ceremony at my sister's church. In between/after these activities we were able to celebrate Mother's Day with all the Mothers in the family. If you're a mother (sorry its a day late) Happy Mother's Day from the "Royal Family"!

Shopping, David, and Diets*

Today I got to hang out with my girl Amanda. Not only do Amanda and I share the same birthday (different year) but we also share a serious addiction to T.J. Maxx/Home Goods. She will be detoxing sooner than me as she just finished her law degree from UGA!!! Since this technically means you have a doctorate Amanda, you can tell Beau (her fiance and Jason's cousin who is in medical school) that you became a doctor before he did ; )

From the looks of this picture you can see Amanda found the way to David's heart...the secret is to greet him with "remember me?", and not get too frustrated when he is too shy to have you hold him. Warm him up with some choo-choo's, Georgia football, and tent playing, and he will be in your arms in no time!

*I've decided I'm going on a diet...from Friday's Feasts that is. I've been frustrated with the questions lately...

That's it!

I will no longer get David's hair cut "professionally". This time it wasn't just traumatic for him, it was for me as well. If I'm going to pay $15 for a kid's haircut, I'd better get something nicer than an uneven buzz. I can do that at home, with much less screaming. I'm just glad David's hair grows fast 'cause right now he has less hair than he did when he was born!

"Great Strides" were made today...

...on behalf of Elena and "65 roses".

This Team Brought To You By The Letter E

First we walked 3 miles, next we had a picnic lunch, and then visited the Zoo...

Today we went to the annual Great Strides walk in Atlanta, which raises money for a cure for cystic fibrosis-the disease David's friend Elena, is battling and winning. I want to give a special thank you to Katie and Tara who donated money and their time, by walking with us early on a Saturday morning. I hope y'all come again next year!

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

All Aboard
Conductor David
Last Friday, David got to ride the train around Stone Mountain. As most of you know trains are his absolute favorite thing, however, he has broadened his horizons a bit by becoming fascinated with basically any mode of transportation. Planes, tractors, boats, trucks-he's a typical boy. At one point while we were sitting on the train before we left the station, a plane flew over us and there were work men riding a tractor beside us. David had to be thinking "does it get any better than this?". I think he was a little overwhelmed by it all because he fell asleep in my arms during the last part of the ride!
