Wow, that sounds so familiar! Both boys can gab up a storm now, but "da da" was their first words also. Oh, and years later, I still stay up extremely late. :(

Don't worry Andrea - I just started back to school and in my Development & Learning class last night we learned that even though most mothers have more time with their infant, it is most common for their first words to be "da da".

Jessica-yeah it is easier to say. My mom says that once he starts saying mama I will wish he would call for someone else!

Josh is starting to think that Livi doesn't know who he is....she won't say Dada for anything. Maybe it's a boy/girl thing. Boys say DaDa first and girls say Mama first.

Josh and I say the same thing every night, and every night we drag ourselves to bed way later than we ever intended.

Bethany--Nope, my Ben says Mama (not knowing what it means of course), but no Dada has come out yet. But it's true that it is developmentally normal to say Dada first.

Why do we let ourselves go to bed so late, you guys? I think it's because we don't want to miss out on kid-free time.
