A Slice of Humble Pie

David's vocabulary is expanding everyday. Here are a few more words he has added to his dictionary:

Back
Balloon
Bird
Boom
Bye
Cake
Charlie
Cheese
Choo Choo
Duck
Oh Boy
Shoes
Tractor
Tree

David still refuses to say mama. When I ask him to say it he either gives me a blank stare, shakes his head no, or says "da da". Since he learned to say our dog's name before mine, everyday I eat a slice of humble pie.

yeah, i second Laura. i used to wonder why joe never said mommy and then i realized that he never heard it. and i told paul to start addressing me as mommy, you know? instead of katie. weird, maybe. haha!! anyways, eventually, he'll say it and then he'll never stop saying it and you'll wish he never started saying it!! hehe!!

I was reading once about language development and the article was comparing a dog's understanding of language to a human's. The part that stood out, though, was that the average 18-month old knows about 50 words and the average 2-year old knows 200! I didn't believe it until I saw it with Patrick, but they really do bust out with the speech right now. If he's going to learn over 150 new words in the next eight months, SURELY one of them will be "mommy"!

Awww! I can only imagine! Well, at least learning Charlie's name shows that David is on the right track to pronouncing two syllables, right? I sent you the dress link too:)

Laura-sometimes I do speak in third person ex. "Wait for mama".

Katie-I think I was one of the ones to suggest that Paul call you mama instead of Katie!

Becky- thanks that is encouraging!
