Beach Bums

Well, I've got too many pictures of the beach for just one post so I decided I'd start with the ones y'all really want to see-the ones of David. He had a grand ole time playing in the sand. Thankfully he has my skin tone so he didn't burn after hours upon hours in direct sunlight. We brought my sister's sand tent, but he really didn't care to sit in it so we didn't even bring it down after our first trip. I just made sure I lathered him up real good with sunscreen. We went down to the beach twice a day everyday since we were only there a few days. We only ventured out of the condo a few times to get some good seafood, but mainly we were just beach bums. Jason and David got lots of father/son time in the ocean which really made me happy since he gets plenty of time with me. I've said it before, and I'll say it again- mom's never get a vacation even when you're on vacation, but Jason did a great job making sure I got to relax too. I even got to read a book y'all!

View from the condo on the 10th floor.
He didn't keep his hat on long.Soaking up rays.
He was actually telling me to stop taking his picture at this point.
Many, many, many trips were made to get water and come back to dump it in the sand.
Sure am glad I bought those $2 Wal-mart sand toys before we left!
He was so happy to be outside when para sails, helicopters, and planes would pass by.
Insisting on carrying his toys.
We actually had nothing to do with this, but I thought it was picture worthy!
Did you know that the higher up your condo unit is, the more its worth? I didn't! Supposedly the view is better. I also found it funny that there was no 13th floor (no 13 button on the elevator). Someone is superstitious-hope no one on the 14th floor is ; ) More to come...you weren't hoping for pictures of me in a bathing suit were you? That ain't gonna happen!

We're Baaack!

On our way to the beach we made a special stop. Dan's best friend and favorite hunting buddy was a man named Wesley. We still keep in touch with him and his family. They were so generous as to let us use their beach condo. On our way there we spent the first night of our trip at their house in Bainbridge, GA. After the long car ride David wanted to play outside where he quickly learned the word "gnat". We used to live in Statesboro, and I don't miss those pesky bugs one bit! Once Wesley got home from work, he and his son Trip took us to ride their jet skis on the Flint River. Jason drove David who wasn't afraid one bit. When Jason would stop David would yell "ready, set, gooooo" so they would start moving again. Trip taught me how to drive and it was pretty fun-I actually preferred to drive than ride as a comfortable top speed for me was about 35 miles an hour ; ) On the last ride of the day David took over the handles and put the safety cord around his wrist- he had watched us and became an old pro! When we got back to their house Miss Kriss had prepared a wonderful meal for us and we ate it outside with fans blowing to keep us cool and keep those darn gnats away. David went to bed extra late that night as Jason was enjoying seeing his son interact with his father's best friend...to him it was a glimpse of what his dad would have looked like...

They were watching the outdoor channel.
Wesley, David, and Chip (who is Charlie dawg's daddy)...
enjoying each other's company.
Chip...and Charlie.
Like father...
Like Son.

David took to Wesley immediately which he seldom does with anyone he hasn't met. Mr. Wesley told us after David went to bed that he didn't have any urge to have grandchildren until he met David. What a compliment! The next morning we set off for the beach...

What A Difference A Year Makes

Its hard to believe its already been a year since I started blogging. Here's a look back at some of our highs and lows...

I decide to start blogging and I explain my blog name with my first post.

I put up my favorite post to date. I think some of my best work is just a title and one picture. Heck, I can even summarize my entire childhood with one post.

Charlie still hasn't found a mate but he is enjoying being a bachelor for now.

Some things never change; I am still trying to think of ways to get out of ironing, and although David can say mama now (that didn't take long , riiiight) we are still going to bed waaay too late.

David began a train obsession. Seriously. An Obsession.

Football Season. Georgia Bulldogs. Need I say more?

Our well woes come to light, and I realize I put Georgia football above showering. Our well issues seemed like they would stay and never go away, but alas they did. Thank you God.

Jason, David, and I each turned a year older and hopefully wiser, because we found out how fickle kid's cartoons can be, and realized that its better to cut David's hair at home, among other things.

My second nephew was born.

My father in law was remembered.

I start Friday's Feasts. I end Friday's Feasts.

And finally you all know by my many video posts lately that we finally got a camcorder and have put it too good use. Cheers and here's to another year of blogging!

This will be my last post before we leave for the beach...so long, farewell...see you next week!

"Mama Hold You"

This is what often happens when I try to record David...tonight I was trying to catch him dancing...

Vacations

We're no longer in hiding.
Since Jason and I both got David's cold, I took an impromptu blogging vacation last week. It was nice, but what I truly need is a real vacation. The three of us are headed to the beach at the end of the month and I am really looking forward to it because we haven't been on a vacation in four years! I can't promise much more between now and the day we leave, but hopefully what I lack in quantity, I will make up for in quality. My one year "blog-a-versary" is coming up so I'll be preparing a look back at the past year. That should give you plenty sort through while I am gone, and hopefully I will come back with lots of pictures and new material.

Blogger won't let me put a title on this post for some reason...it would have been "TGIM" or Thank God Its Monday 'cause here is what I learned this weekend...

It is possible to have a cold and a stomach bug at the same time...my kid is just talented like that.

There is a HUGE difference in when your child shakes his head no, versus when he actually tells you "No".

"You know...I've never really liked paying bills...I don't think I'm gonna do that {any more} either."

This One's For Lara!

My sister's "Twin" Sons...

Ben 3 years ago...

... and Will, only yesterday!

When my parents look at solo baby pictures of my sister and I, sometimes they have no idea which one of us it is! I never understood that until yesterday. My nephew Will showed up in the same shirt I remember his older brother Ben wearing when he was that age (they were actually born in the same month, just three years apart). Lara, I would tell you to label and date all of your pictures, but in the digital age its pretty much taken care of for you...and people like to tell us that we look like twins...I think your boys have us beat!

Bedtime Giggles

Funnies

I thought I would share a few funny things David has said lately...

One Sunday during mass, the congregation begins to stand up for the final blessing. Knowing that we will be leaving shortly David yells out "Bye, bye Jesus!".

While we were eating at Cracker Barrel, David noticed a woman sitting near us who was wearing a bandanna over her head. David points to her and says "Pirate! Arrrr!".

I'm really enjoying the age he is right now-especially since I know that the terrible two's are just around the corner...
